Sedona News (August 10, 2021) Acquired by the City in 2014, the Ranger Station on Brewer Road is a 3.4 acre property that includes an historic house (1City of Sedona Arizona917) and barn (1934) that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since these are two of Sedona’s 23 designated City Historic Landmarks, all restorations are being done in compliance with Arizona’s State Historic Preservation Office consultation and statutes.
While the City is still looking at this site and others as a temporary shuttle exchange for the trailhead shuttles that will be deployed in Spring 2022, this has not changed the City’s timeline for improvement to the park.

Here is the timeline of what work has been done and what will happen in the future:
    • 2020 – 2022 – House/Barn exterior restoration
    • 2022 – 2023 – House/Barn interior restoration
    • 2023 – 2025 – Construction of parking lot, landscaping, restroom and lawn
    • 2025 – 2026 – Plaza, landscaping and gardens

These efforts will continue to move forward even if the location is used on a temporary basis for any part of the trailhead shuttle project.
Last night, City Council approved funding for the next phase of restoration to the exterior of the Ranger Station Barn. To learn more, visit our website here for the City Council meeting where this was discussed: https://sedonaaz.swagit.com/play/08102021-1499.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
