Sedona, AZ — To kick-off the 2025-2026 season, The Sedona Women (TSW) celebrate 25 years of Making a Difference on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at Community Library Sedona, where TSW programs are scheduled monthly every second Thursday from September through May from 9:30 a.m. to noon. To recognize this milestone of two- and- a- half decades of friendship and service to the community, and making a difference in the lives of women of the Verde Valley, the City of Sedona has proclaimed September 11, 2025, “The Sedona Women 25th Anniversary Celebration Day.”

Making a Difference goes to the core of every project, activity, and gathering of TSW members. TSW is dedicated to volunteerism and community service projects that benefit numerous local organizations and events (e.g., The Sedona Food Bank, St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Community Dinners, Oak Creek Cleanups, etc.). In addition, TSW is making a difference by supporting local women through the Helen Wolfe Scholarship Fund, providing educational scholarships for local women to pursue education and career advancement. TSW provides monthly educational programs of interest to its membership and our community, while providing a welcoming and friendly atmosphere for all.

The second part of the September program will feature Jan Taylor, who will enchant us with her Grand Canyon river running adventures and educate us on the history of river running, as well as the history and geology of the area. She will share incredible Grand Canyon photos as she describes the beauty and excitement that has prompted her to return for 25 years.

Jan became enamored by the beauty, serenity, and excitement of the Grand Canyon rapids during her first motorized river rafting trip in 2000. Especially interested in the geology of the area, Jan began chartering and organizing geological rafting trips through the Grand Canyon with Grand Canyon geologist Dr. Ivo Lucchitta and Wayne Ranney, geological educator and guide. Jan has experienced 21 Grand Canyon trips on motorized rafts, oar rafts, and dories, each trip different but all equally wonderful.

This September 11th  program is open to the public at the Community Library Sedona, 3250 White Bear Road in West Sedona. A meet-and-greet will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the program and Q&A at 10 a.m. To learn more about The Sedona Women or to become a member, visit thesedonawomen.com or contact thesedonawomen@gmail.com.

The Sedona Women are dedicated to making a positive and lasting impact on the community by providing opportunities for women to build relationships, to learn about the community, to support community needs, and to enhance the natural beauty and distinctive character of Sedona. TSW is an apolitical 501(c)(3) organization that respects the diversity of its members and the inclusivity of our community.

If you recently moved to Sedona, you may notice that every four years, residents vote on something called Home Rule. The July 21 vote is simply about who controls Sedona’s city budget.
