Sedona News – The city of Sedona encourages all residents to attend the next public meeting for the Western Gateway Master Plan on Wednesday, Feb. 19 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sedona Performing Arts Center at Red Rock High School, located at 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd., to give feedback on four site plans that show how 41 acres at Cultural Park Place could be developed.

The meeting will also feature a presentation of a review of all the public input up until this point and an analysis of the property.

The city purchased the 41 acres in 2022 and launched a master planning process in 2024 to determine future uses for the site. The site plans shown at the upcoming public meeting are based on compiled feedback from two community surveys and a previous public meeting.

Feedback from this upcoming public meeting will be used to create a single, preferred site plan which will then be presented to the public, Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council at a series of public meetings. Based on that round of feedback, a final draft of the Master Plan, along with recommendations for implementation will culminate with a City Council public meeting this summer.

For those interested but unable to attend the meeting, the four site plans will be posted to the Plan Sedona website the following day, Feb. 20, 2025. To learn more about the master planning process, sign up for updates and share comments, go to the project website at www.plansedona.com.

I can honestly say, having grown up in the Bronx in the 60s, that if it had not been for the Beatles I most likely would have grown up to be a criminal or been killed in a violent gang war.
