Sedona AZ (April 1, 2013) – The City of Sedona Art in Public Places Committee is proud to announce a new exhibition featuring the paintings of the Northern Arizona Watercolor Society. Twenty-eight artists contributed to this varied and expansive spring exhibit, which includes beautifully colored wall-sized works as well as intricate paintings as small as a postcard.
Northern Arizona Watercolor Society (NAWS) is an art organization dedicated to promoting the art of watercolor painting throughout Arizona. NAWS supports the growth of young artists with an Annual Student Art Show held at Sedona Red Rock High School, which includes scholarship funds to assists students to further their study of art.
NAWS exists to create, foster and sustain interest in the art of water media painting. Additionally, they assist in the education of its members and the community in aqueous painting by sponsoring Educational Programs; Exhibitions which are juried by nationally known artists; Workshops to help increase the skill level of members; DVD Libraries that contain an extensive video/DVD library on a host of art techniques; Critique Groups to assist in evaluating members’ artwork for educational and informative discussions; and organize Plein-air events that meet twice a month in order to paint in scenic local areas of Sedona.
