There is a large-scale market for geriatric mental health services — in the United States, and some other OECD countries — for older adults who are living alone.
This service could become a startup, to keep hope alive, for Nancy Guthrie. This startup can also be the next step, for her daughter, Savannah, before returning to anchoring on TODAY show, at NBC.

There is a recent [March, 2026] report on CNN Business, Savannah Guthrie ‘plans to return’ to the ‘Today’ show, NBC says, stating that, “Savannah Guthrie “plans to return” to the “Today” show at some point, NBC said Thursday, in the network’s first public comments about her future on the telecast.”
“Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, has been missing for 33 days, as the “Today” show noted in a brief news update about the case on Thursday morning.”
“Guthrie spent several weeks in Tucson, Arizona, helping with the search, before recently returning to her home in New York.”
“NBC said Thursday that she stopped by the “Today” show’s iconic home, Studio 1A at Rockefeller Center, for the first time since her mother’s apparent abduction.”
“Savannah Guthrie stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues,” NBC said.”
“While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”
““I have every intention of coming back,” Guthrie told her colleagues during the visit, according to a source who was present. “I don’t know how to come back, but I don’t know how not to. You’re my family. And, I would like to try.””

Anyone age 65 or older experiencing difficulty with symptoms such as depression, anxiety, loss of coping ability, cognitive changes or severe changes in behavior patterns may benefit from the services.”
Digital Geriatric Mental Health Startup
There is a market need for digital geriatric mental health services, for people who are living alone at 65 and above. This mental health service will be an encompassing mind health then situational awareness service.
Simply, the service will look beyond the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision [DSM-5-TR], to living, learning and vigilance tactics, in an increasingly unpredictable and evolving world.
The service will be fully digital. So, it is possible to scale it, within the United States and beyond, as fast as possible. The tips for mental health can be extracted from cognitive behavioral therapy [CBT] models. Then situational awareness tips can be excerpted from studies in anthropology, sociology, psychology, criminology, cybersecurity, philosophy, economics and neuroscience.
These tips can be provided multiple times a week, on audio, video, text and images. There will be a mobile app, as well as possibility to be offered over cellular services, automated calls, SMS and MMS.
The service will be subscription only. Though there could be a free tier, it may not be adequate enough for the care needs of the elderly. Subscriptions could be weekly, monthly, annually or tiered. There can be also be group subscriptions or those purchased from insurance, veteran services, Medicare, social groups, religious centers, nonprofits and so forth.
The goal will be to suffuse the minds of older people, towards better mental health and advanced vigilance against vulnerabilities, in the digital and physical environments.

As the war in Iran ploughs on, and concerns about food insecurity, regime change, soaring energy prices, fertilizer shortages and so forth, mount, with the case of Nancy Guthrie not on the spotlight as much, it is possible to incorporate a startup to offer mental health services, solving a major problem and keeping hope alive for her.

There is a recent [March 18, 2026] story on AP, 2,400 Kaiser mental health professionals strike in Northern California over AI concerns, stating that, “About 2,400 Kaiser Permanente mental health professionals were striking Wednesday in Northern California over concerns that the health care giant is replacing therapists with artificial intelligence.”
“Kaiser says the union claim is false and AI will not replace human assessment or make care decisions for patients. Facilities are open, the company said. The two sides have been negotiating a new contract since last summer.”
“The mental health professionals were joined in their one-day strike by more than 23,000 Kaiser nurses. The therapists, who include social workers and psychologists, provide mental health and addiction medicine treatment for an estimated 4.6 million patients in the San Francisco Bay Area, central valley and Sacramento regions.”
“Oakland-based Kaiser does not currently use AI for therapy, but the National Union of Healthcare Workers fears the technology will become good enough to make it an attractive option for the company.”
