    Lotsa pasta April 8 for Special Olympics

    logo_sedonapoliceSedona AZ (April 4, 2017) – Community members and visitors are invited to help the Sedona Police Department raise funds to support Special Olympics by enjoying an all-you-can-eat spaghetti dinner April 8.

    Dinner begins at 5 p.m. at the Sedona Elks Lodge located at 110 Airport Rd., Sedona. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children, payable in cash at the door or with a check payable to the Sedona Police Department. The evening will include live and silent auctions.

    20170404_sedonapoliceAll proceeds will support the department’s leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics that will take place on May 2. The Sedona leg will travel westward along State Route 89A toward Cottonwood from approximately 9-11 a.m.

    Bring friends and family this Saturday, April 8, to the Elks Lodge for dinner, and support SPD and Special Olympics.

    The Sad Lesson of Tyre Nichols

    Having grown up in the mean streets of the Bronx there is one lesson we learn early on, and that’s don’t mess with the cops when they got you down, and outnumbered. The beating of Tyre Nichols at the hands of the police preceding his death at the hospital could have been avoided if only he had the sense to not resist them. People fail to understand that on the streets, cops are basically “God.” You can’t fight them. If it takes one, two, five, ten or twenty officers they will eventually put you down and hurt you if they have to in the process of detaining or arresting you. In the Bronx we would fight amongst ourselves but when the cops came it was “Yes, officer. No, officer,” and do our best to look as innocent as possible. People need to understand that cops on the street represent the full power of the state and government. Read more→
