logo_lettereditorWe won…the voters of Sedona stood with us…we are grateful for the support.

The voting turnout for the Override Election was huge, which means we now have a large audience for our school district that we can use to the advantage of our students and teachers in the years to come.

Acknowledging the hard work that made our campaign a success, I would like to personally thank the following individuals, groups and organizations for their help and support:

First and foremost are our District Superintendent David D. Lykins and district staff, who were the inspiration for our campaign.

Teachers are the unsung heroes of our community and they proved it again during this time of financial uncertainty. We have by far the most dynamic and energetic superintendent anywhere, leading them.

Our Campaign “go to” people who made this all happen were Liz Westervelt and Nancy Zielinski.  If our campaign needed anything done, they were there to do it.

The face of our campaign was created by Deb Weinkauff’s ads and logos, Charlotte Howard’s dynamic website, and Heather Herman’s social media.

Becki Ross, Barbi Webster, and Alison Saxman kept the parents and staff informed and on track.

From the Left – Angela LeFevre did a great job registering new voters and keeping the campaign energy up – all the time.

From the Right – Serge Wright was able to put everything into perspective as a result of his past Sedona campaigning experience. He gave us confidence.

The Sedona 30 provided most of the funding that was critical to our success.

The Sedona Chamber of Commerce, League of Women Voters, and DORR that publically endorsed our campaign as well as the Sedona Red Rock News.

I’d like to thank Sedona.biz for giving us a platform to get our point out to the voting public.

Thanks  you to those who took time to pick up their pens and write letters-to the-editor explaining our position and countering misinformation put out by Override opponents.

And thank you to the nearly 100 volunteers who helped in various capacities to get the job done and the Sedona voters who got the message!

Not only will our children benefit from our accomplishment but so will our community and our future.

The official coordination for the 2018 Override Campaign was turned over to Heather Herman.  We now have 5 years to prepare ourselves and educate Sedona voters as to the wonderful school district they have supporting their community.

Sedona – It has always been, still is and, will always be a great place to live!
