The Natural History Institute features contemporary and traditional art that explores the deep, reciprocal relationship between people and the natural world. The ongoing exhibition, “Green Guardians: Artists Standing Strong for the Verde River,” running from April 26 through October 11, 2024, highlights the urgent need for conservation of the Upper Verde River. Through a variety of medias—paintings, sculptures, and other installations—artists lend their voices to advocate for the federal designation of the Upper Verde River as a Wild and Scenic River. This exhibition is more than an artistic expression; it is a powerful call to action, urging visitors to appreciate, protect, and advocate for the Verde River’s preservation. The gallery will be open from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM during the Art Walk, inviting attendees to immerse themselves in this critical environmental cause.
