Sedona, AZ — The Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley, located at 100 Meadowlark Drive off Route 179 in Sedona, is a welcoming, egalitarian, inclusive congregation dedicated to building a link from the past to the future by providing religious, educational, social and cultural experiences.

Visitors are welcome to attend services after a security check. Those who cannot attend in person can access the service through zoom. High Holy Day tickets are available through the office.
Rabbi Magal will lead Friday evening services on September 19 at 5:30 pm. The service will include songs to usher in the Sabbath, prayers of healing for loved ones, and Kaddish, the Mourner’s prayer in memory of those who have passed away recently or around this date in past years. The weekly Torah portion is Nitzavim (Deuteronomy 29:9 – 30:20) in which Moses describes the Covenant between God and the Israelites, urging the Israelites to uphold the Covenant and honor the Torah so that they may be rewarded with life in the Land of Israel. Kiddush and Motzi (blessings over the wine/juice and challah) and socializing follow the service.
Erev Rosh Hashanah services, led by Rabbi Magal and Cantorial Soloist Marden Paul, begin on Monday, September 22 at 6:30 pm in person and virtually, followed by traditional honey cake and other traditional, festive desserts.
Rosh Hashanah morning service, led by Rabbi Magal and Cantorial Soloist Marden Paul, will be held on Tuesday, September 23 beginning at 10:00 am. Tashlich, the symbolic letting go of old patterns and remnants of sins, will be led by Rabbi Alicia and Itzhak Magal at a gathering at Los Abrigados by the creek at 4:00 pm.
A Rosh Hashanah Second Day service, created and led by Rabbi Magal and Anita Rosenfield, will be an innovative “Rosh Ha-Story” service on Wednesday, September 24 at 11:00 am, both in person and virtually. Key prayers will be illustrated by Talmudic, Hassidic, and folk tales, and further expanded by participants’ own personal stories.
No Minyan service or Meditation class on Wednesday this week because of Rosh Hashanah holy day services.
Torah study, led by Rabbi Magal on Thursday, September 25 will focus on Torah portion Vayeleich (Deuteronomy 31: 1-30) in which Moses gives Joshua the mantle of leadership and comes to the end of his long life of leadership. The zoom link is on the synagogue website.
The Social Action Committee is collecting non-perishable foods, as well as infant formula and feminine hygiene products, for the local Sedona food pantry. During the High Holy Days the collection bin will be located in the synagogue lobby. Consider bringing non-perishable foods with you to services to donate.
