The JCSVV offers soul-enriching services, programs, and classes, all listed on the synagogue website, jcsvv.org. Visitors are welcome to attend services after a security check. Those who cannot attend in person can access the service through zoom.

Erev Shabbat services begin at 5:30 pm on Friday, January 17, 2025, led by Rabbi Alicia Magal.

Rabbi Magal will chant from the Torah portion Shemot, (Exodus 1:1 – 6:1), the beginning of the Book of Exodus, introducing us to Moses who will become a future leader of the Israelites who are enslaved by Pharaoh in Egypt.

Meditation class, led by Rosalie Malter and Rabbi Magal, will meet on January 22 at 4:00 pm on zoom.

Torah study, led by Rabbi Magal, will meet on Thursday, January 23, at 4:00 pm on zoom.  The Torah portion for that week is  Va’eira (Exodus 6:2–9:35), in which Moses approaches Pharaoh and demands in the name of God, “Let My people go!”  Pharaoh refuses, and the first seven of ten plagues are visited upon Egypt.

The Social Action Committee is collecting food for the local Sedona food pantry.   Please drop off cans or boxes of non-perishable foods in the bin provided for collections located at the bottom of the stairs in the parking lot.

The JCSVV Social Action Committee is now collecting winter clothing items for the IRC Welcome Center for family refugees to assist in providing warm clothing as they travel to their family sponsors throughout the United States.  We are seeking winter jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, socks, sweaters and boots for men, women and children.  We partner with the Community Food bank of Sedona for the unused items from their coat drive from now until the 3rd week in January. Please deposit your donations in the SAC bin at the stairs in the lower-level parking lot and thank you for your generosity.

The Jewish Community of Sedona and the Verde Valley, located at 100 Meadowlark Drive off Route 179 in Sedona, is a welcoming, egalitarian, inclusive congregation dedicated to building a link from the past to the future by providing religious, educational, social and cultural experiences.  Office telephone: 928 204-1286. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
