The JCSVV offers soul-enriching services, programs, and classes, all listed on the synagogue website, jcsvv.org. Visitors are welcome to attend services after a security check. Those who cannot attend in person can access the service through zoom.
Erev Shabbat services begin at 5:30 pm on Friday, January 10, 2025, led by Rabbi Alicia Magal. The incoming Board of Directors will be installed and blessed. New members will also be honored at this service. Rabbi Magal will chant from the Torah portion Vayechi (Genesis 47:28 – 50:26), telling of Jacob’s last years. Before his death, he blesses Joseph’s two sons, Ephraim and Menashe. This blessing is used by parents to bless their sons to this day. The members of the Board of Directors will sponsor the Oneg refreshments and look forward to greeting members and guests.
Meditation class, led by Rosalie Malter, will meet on January 15 at 4:00 pm on zoom.
Torah study, led by Anita Rosenfield, will meet on Thursday, January 16, at 4:00 pm on zoom. The Torah portion for that week is Shemot, (Exodus 1:1 – 6:1), the beginning of the Book of Exodus, introducing us to Moses who will become a future leader of the Israelites who are enslaved by Pharaoh in Egypt.
The Social Action Committee is collecting food for the local Sedona food pantry. Please drop off cans or boxes of non-perishable foods in the bin provided for collections located at the bottom of the stairs in the parking lot.
The JCSVV Social Action Committee is now collecting winter clothing items for the IRC Welcome Center for family refugees to assist in providing warm clothing as they travel to their family sponsors throughout the United States. We are seeking winter jackets, hats, gloves, scarves, socks . sweaters and boots for men, women and children. We partner with the Community Food bank of Sedona for the unused items from their coat drive from now until the 3rd week in January. Please deposit your donations in the SAC bin at the stairs in the lower-level parking lot and thank you for your generosity.
