Prescott, Arizona (September 11, 2025) – The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center is honored to present living legend Mavis Staples in concert on Saturday, October 11 at 7 p.m.
A true icon of gospel, soul, R&B, and the civil rights movement, Mavis Staples has been uplifting audiences for more than six decades. From her groundbreaking work with her family’s group The Staple Singers (“I’ll Take You There,” “Respect Yourself,” “If You’re Ready [Come Go With Me]”) to her celebrated solo career, Staples’ music has become the soundtrack of inspiration, justice, and joy.
Staples’ new album Sad and Beautiful World (out November 7) honors her powerful legacy with interpretations of songs by Tom Waits, Gillian Welch, Frank Ocean, Leonard Cohen, and others, alongside original compositions. This summer, Mavis Staples released a stirring cover of Kevin Morby’s “Beautiful Strangers,” praised for its timeless message of hope and humanity. Listen here: https://youtu.be/AqfIe8qEc70
At 86, Staples remains a powerhouse performer whose voice carries both history and heart. Her live shows are electric, blending her classic hits with powerful new songs that speak directly to today’s world. As Pitchfork recently wrote, Staples “remains a vital, living link to both America’s musical past and its hopeful future.”
Don’t miss this extraordinary evening with one of music’s most enduring and inspiring voices.

    Tickets
for Mavis Staples start at $64. The Jim & Linda Lee Performing Arts Center is located on the Yavapai College Prescott Campus, 1100 E. Sheldon Street, Prescott.
