Sedona, AZ — Sedona is not just a beautiful place to live and visit because of its magical qualities, but also because of the people who live and work there.

Each individual is unique in their own special way, like facets of a diamond completing the whole.

This article is about one Sedona personality who recently moved from Sedona that many of us still living here fondly love and miss.

Restaurateur Dieter Lehman left an indelible impression in the consciousness and leitmotif of Sedona.

In the six years he was at the helm of Sedona’s Steakhouse89, through his sparkling and endearing personality it did not take him long to become a fixture in our town.

A consummate restaurateur and businessman, Dieter guided Steakhouse89 from a fledgling restaurant six years ago to a Sedona icon and must pace to visit for a night of fine dining, camaraderie and music.

Dieter finished his service a few months ago and left to be with his family in Houston, much to the disappointment of all those who loved him and knew him in Sedona.

Sedona is home to some of the most flamboyant, colorful, exciting personalities, and through the years we locals know who we are and have formed an alliance of special personalities, often eating and meeting in the same local places.

Dieter shined bright in these circles, gaining trust and new friends that became loyal diners at Steakhouse89.

There was a TV series called “Friends” about close patrons creating their own fun at their favorite place to imbibe and dine.

That was the feeling Dieter created with his patrons, visitors and locals alike.

Needless to say, we miss him. Sedona lost a irradescent jewel when Dieter left for Houston.

But this is Sedona. And we know it’s allure. Who knows? Maybe the clarion call to come back to us will prove irresistible to Dieter’s ears and our good friend returns to us in the not too distant future.

Here’s to you Dieter. You are welcome here forever.

      You will be missed.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
