City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (June 20, 2019) – A city contractor will conduct sealcoating of streets in the Harmony Hills Units 1-3 and Harmony Knolls neighborhoods this month.  Beginning June 24, specific sections of roads will be completely closed to traffic. Residents will be able to access to a main collector road at all times, although minor route changes may occur because of unforeseen circumstances.

Important instructions for residents.  All vehicles must be removed from the street by 6 a.m. on the day seal coat is scheduled. The sealed streets will be closed to all traffic until barricades are removed. It is the contractor’s goal to reopen the roads each day by 6 p.m.

It is important not to drive, park or walk on the new sealer. Neither the city nor contractor Morgan Pavement will assume responsibility for damage of any kind resulting from encroachment on the construction areas. If you need to use your vehicle on the day of sealing you must park it outside the area before sealing occurs. Property owners are asked to avoid running any type of irrigation system 24 hours before or after seal coat work.

Special needs?  If you have special access needs for a medical trip or other transportation on the day your street is scheduled for seal coat, please call contractor Morgan Pavement in advance at (480) 526-5445.

As always, please slow down around construction workers and obey traffic controls.

If there is any change in the schedule, area properties will receive a new notice with updated schedules. Questions? Call contractor Morgan Pavement at (480) 526-5445 or Stephen Craver of the city of Sedona at (928) 203-5059.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
