    Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Monies a Critical link to ongoing Traffic Safety efforts in Yavapai County

    Yavapai County Sheriff's OfficePrescott AZ (November 3, 2020) – Yavapai County Sheriff Scott Mascher wishes to thank the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) for providing grant funds awarded over the October 2020 to September 2021 time period. These funds have had a direct impact in keeping Yavapai County roads safer for everyone. Although numerous special patrols have been scheduled thanks to this funding from GOHS, the Sheriff’s Office wants to remind everyone that DUI enforcement is a year-around focus. YCSO joins all local law enforcement agencies in encouraging Yavapai County motorists to drink responsibly, drive smart, and always drive sober.

    A breakdown of the funding received by the Sheriff’s Office from GOHS is as follows:  

    Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety – $1,500.00
    Purpose:  To purchase bicycle helmets and educational materials to support Deputy Do Right’s bicycle safety program.

    DUI Enforcement and Equipment – $27,210.00
    Purpose:  $15,000.00 for Overtime and Employer Related Expenses to work special details focused on DUI Enforcement, $2,000.00 to purchase new Portable Breath Testing Devices and $10,210.00 to purchase a new Intoxilyzer 9000 Package.  

    Sedona Gift Shop

    STEP Enforcement – $8,000.00
    Purpose: $8,000.00 for Overtime and Employer Related Expenses to work special details focused on Speed and Red-Light Enforcement.

    Accident Investigation Equipment – $29,629.00
    Purpose: $29,629.00 to purchase a Drone Package and Accessories to assist in reconstruction of accident scenes.
