Today Carson’s music centers around a live recording device called a ‘looper’ which allows him to create multiple layers of violin and sound. He uses additional pedals to create bass and rhythm parts while weaving in a rare 19th century Stroh or horn violin, all to create textures most people have never even considered possible from a stringed instrument. Clearly a violin virtuoso, Carson also loves to strum his violin like a guitar and does this throughout the performance creating world music soundscapes and rocking renditions of songs you know and love along with exquisite originals that will soon become new favorites!

Experience the violin as you never have before in an inspiring musical concert event with one-man-band violinist, Tyler Carson. Locally known as Fiddler on the Rock, Tyler’s story is the embodiment of a soul purposed life so unique that it became the subject an international multi-award winning documentary called Living Music. Tyler shares many of his life stories during the show and creates an uplifting experience that reaches audiences aged 3 to 93!

In addition to the live concert there will be a screening of the award winning 20min documentary short film “Living Music”. After premiering and winning at the Illuminate Film Festival, the film has toured the world receiving additional awards from Madrid to LA. Screened before the concert, “Living Music” is the inspirational story of Carson’s personal and artistic journey and the ideal pairing to immerse the listener into the world of his music — truly a one-of-a-kind concert experience!

    ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Tyler Carson has discovered a new genre for the violin: Living Music. Growing up trained as a classical violinist (professional symphony soloist age 13, first violin Canadian National Youth Orchestra) and a folk ‘fiddler’ simultaneously (MainStage folk festivals, opening for Brooks & Dunn, The Chieftains and Irish Rovers), Tyler was always headed in a unique direction. One-Man Symphony embodies the rebirth of this musician’s life who toured to multiple continents in person and on TV as a child star and culminated as a featured performer on the Jerry Lewis Telethon between Savion Glover and Jason Alexander at age 16. As an adult and matured artist Tyler’s music constantly seeks to redefine expectation, “I’ve never felt that music came from me; it always felt like it came through me.”

A musical turning point came for Tyler when he traveled to India in February 2013. He was asked to perform a solo violin performance in Auroville ‘International City of Peace’ in southeast India. The performance occurred at the end of a deep spiritual process and graduate project as an Integrative Energy Healer. The performance recorded and featured on Auroville radio. The first solo violin performance of its kind, it became his debut solo album “Living Violin”. Since then, a synergy has followed his musical exploration as a solo violinist. Meditation practices have opened a direct heart centric musical expression enhanced by technique derived through tai-chi and qi-gong coached by local Master Rob Mann and world renowned Master George Xu who described result of the process that he and his instrument “vibrate together as one”. In performance and connected heart to heart with an audience, his art can only be described as Living Music.

Fiddler on the Rock: One-Man Symphony takes the stage on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre. Tickets are $35 general admission; $44 VIP tickets (which includes a complimentary glass of wine and preferred seating; and $15 for kids 9-18. From Protest Signs to Missiles: Why Peace Needs Teeth
    .By Tommy Acosta

As a child of the ’60s, I grew up hating war—protesting and demonstrating against them, uncovering as a writer the global military-industrial complex, and seeking peace with my pen. Through the years, I saw myself as a herald—someone who could help people, through my writings, liberate themselves from programmed ignorance and institutionalized stupidity. Well, now that I am in the third act of my life, my understanding of how the world works has changed.
