Sedona News – The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to expect longer delays getting through the switchbacks area of Oak Creek Canyon during the week of July 22 while crews perform drainage maintenance.
Beginning Monday, July 22, the single-lane restriction that is currently in place between mileposts 388 and 389 for ongoing sediment control work will be extended south of the Pumphouse Wash Bridge to allow for the maintenance work to take place. This maintenance work is separate from the sediment control project that’s been ongoing since June.
Drivers should plan for extra travel time between Sedona and Flagstaff due to the increased length between the temporary traffic signals.
The maintenance work on the drainage system is scheduled to be completed by Friday afternoon, July 26, after which the single-lane restriction will be moved back north of the bridge to its original length.
Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors.
