Sedona AZ (June 6, 2019) – Over 30 caring community members “lashed out” against domestic violence on April 27th at the Sedona United Methodist Church to support clients of Verde Valley Sanctuary who are survivors of domestic abuse.
The Lash Out Against Domestic Violence event was spearheaded by Andrea Kadar, Corina Taylor, Kaitlynn Schabatka and Barbara Quayle. They held a brunch at the United Methodist Church with a presentation by Jennifer Perry, Development Director of the Verde Valley Sanctuary. The event was free of charge to attendees and guests had the opportunity to purchase discounted Mary Kay Products to stock up the cosmetic and skin care supplies at the shelter.
Residents at Verde Valley Sanctuary’s 28-bed shelter can stay free of charge for up to 120 days. They are provided with safe shelter, food, clothing (if needed), and basic toiletries. The majority of clients in the shelter have very limited financial resources and do not have money for cosmetics, perfume, and quality skin care products. The Mary Kay company is committed to ending domestic violence. They work nationally to build awareness, partner with advocates and educate the public on the domestic violence epidemic. The local Mary Kay consultant Corina Taylor facilitated the product sales and personally donated over $2,000 product to the shelter. “Our supply of quality products is very limited at the shelter and this donation will go a long way to make our clients feel better about themselves and aid in their road to recovery”, stated Shannon Pippin, Shelter Director.
The Verde Valley Sanctuary is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting, assisting and empowering victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault. The five main services provided are: a 24-hour helpline (928) 634-2511, a 28-bed safe shelter, outreach services, legal advocacy and education and prevention. All services are provided completely free of charge and funded through state and federal grants and charitable donations.
