Sedona News – The city of Sedona continues to seek applicants for two seats on the Historic Preservation Commission.

This voluntary body consists of five citizens appointed and established by City Council to promote and protect Sedona’s historic character and identity. As an extension of the Arizona State Historic Preservation Office, the Sedona Historic Preservation Commission reviews the approval of restoration and improvements to designated historical landmark homes and properties. The Commission’s work is part of a larger statewide and national effort to preserve historic landmarks, which, in Sedona, relates mainly to the city’s pioneer heritage.

Applicants must demonstrate experience or knowledge in at least one of the following: history, architectural history, architecture, historic interiors, historic architecture, planning archaeology, historic archaeology, real estate, historic preservation law or any other historic preservation related field.

The term of service for each volunteer position is three years.

Applications may be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office at 102 Roadrunner Dr. or filled out via this PDF application. Applicants must return applications to the City Clerk’s Office.
