City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (November 12, 2020) – On Saturday, Dec. 5, 2020, the city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department will provide a free and unique experience to visit with Santa as he makes a stop in Sedona from the North Pole. To participate in the festivities, online pre-registration is required because space will be limited; registration opens Nov. 23, 2020.

Things may look a little different this year, but nothing can put a damper on the holiday cheer! This event will consist of 12 family “pods” per 15-minutes from 8 to 10 a.m. at the Pavilion at Posse Grounds Park at 525 Posse Ground Rd. Arrive during your registered 15 minutes and be greeted by Stevie the Elf. You will be assigned a pod number, where you will be able to safely distance while waiting for your turn to visit with Santa Claus himself! Children will be provided with an activity to keep them entertained while they wait. One at a time, pods will have a chance to visit with Santa while still maintaining physical distancing on the stage, providing for a great photo opportunity. After visiting Santa, each child will receive a special treat bag including two crafts, a candy cane and hot chocolate to enjoy at home.

“We’re doing things a little differently this year and even though we’re not hosting Breakfast with Santa, it’s really important to still do something for kids and families to celebrate the holidays. We’re excited to host Visit with Santa as a safe, physically distanced event that everyone can enjoy,” said Ali Baxter, recreation coordinator II, city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department.

Space for this outdoor event allows for 12 family “pods” during each 15-minute time slot. Beginning Nov. 23, 2020, pre-register for this event on this Sportsite website.

    The Symbolism of Jan. 6

    By Tommy Acosta
Don’t mess with symbols. Just ask author Dan Brown’s character Robert Landon. The worth of symbols cannot be measured. Symbols make the world-go-round. Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
