Sedona News – The city of Sedona welcomes community participation in the first series of workshops focused on the development of the Western Gateway Master Plan on Oct. 24, 2024, at the Hub at Posse Grounds Park located at 525-B Posse Ground Rd. There will be two identical sessions offered: one from 2 – 4 p.m. and another from 5 – 7 p.m.

20241010 cityThe Western Gateway is the 41 acres of land off Cultural Park Place that the city purchased in 2022. These workshops offer the community a valuable opportunity to contribute to the planning process of the Western Gateway area, by identifying priority land uses, preferred design elements and desired amenities. Potential land uses are a range of housing, open space, parks and recreation, arts, commercial and retail, and performance and event venue options.

The starting point for these conversations will be what is laid out in the previously completed Western Gateway Community Focus Area Plan, which envisions the area as an active, walkable and vibrant place with a mix of uses that can provide a diversity of housing options for the workforce and amenities for local residents.

Community feedback is crucial in shaping the Master Plan, which will establish a framework for how the city’s Western Gateway property will be used in the future. There will be multiple opportunities throughout the next year for public engagement and feedback including surveys, three in-person workshops (including the October workshop), comment forms and more.

In addition to attending the workshops, residents are encouraged to learn more about the Master Plan, sign up for updates and share general comments throughout the planning process by going to the project website at www.plansedona.com.
