SEDONA, Ariz. – From 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, during the Fest of Fall at Posse Grounds Park, the city of Sedona’s Sustainability Department, in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department and Compost Crowd, invites residents to a free pumpkin drop-off.
The drop-off site will be located near the horseshoe driveway by the Posse Grounds Pavilion and is accessible by both vehicle and foot. More specifically, look for the trailer marked “Pumpkin Drop” and staff will be available to assist with unloading.
Once Halloween is over, many pumpkins end up in the landfill. According to the U.S. Department of Energy, over 1 billion pounds of pumpkins rot in the landfill each year in the U.S. Not only is valuable composting material lost to landfills, but an increased rate of methane gas is released into the atmosphere. Fortunately, programs like what will be offered at Fest of Fall are actively helping reduce methane emissions and returning nutrients back into the soil.
Pumpkin drop-off details:
- Drop-off hours: 1 – 4 p.m.
- Location: Horseshoe driveway near the Posse Grounds Pavilion
- No painted or glitter-decorated pumpkins will be accepted
- Drive-through and walk-up options available
