    Camp Out Under the Stars at Sunset Park

    City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (May 18, 2016) – The city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department will host the annual Community Camp Out at Sunset Park for those interested to camp, eat good food, and participate in fun activities, all while surrounded by the beautiful scenery of Sedona. The Community Camp Out will begin on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 4 p.m. and end on Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 10 a.m.

    Campers will enjoy many activities including using the Splash Park, attending the reptile show, playing with Frisbees and balls, viewing the stars through telescopes with president of the Astronomers of the Verde Valley JD Maddy, and listening to campfire songs by a local musician. The city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department will provide hot dogs and s’mores for roasting around the campfire. The next morning, wake up early for a continental breakfast at 7 a.m. sponsored by the Sedona Elks Lodge, followed by yoga at 8 a.m.

    Check-in and tent set-up is at 4 p.m. on June 3, 2016. The registration fee is $15 per tent for those who bring their own tent and $35 per tent for those who need to rent a tent through the city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department.

    “With so many activities for everyone and two meals included in the price, you can see why the Community Camp Out is so popular. We’re excited to host this great event for both first time and experienced campers alike who want to enjoy the convenience of camping so close to home,” said Elizabeth Ginsberg, recreation and aquatics supervisor, city of Sedona.

    Sunset Park is located at 655 Sunset Drive in Sedona, and there are restrooms and water available at the park. Register by June 1, 2016, by calling the city of Sedona Parks and Recreation Department at 928-282-7098 or stopping by the department’s office at 525 Posse Ground Road at Posse Grounds Park.
