logo sedonayouthorchestraSedona AZ (April 5, 2012) – The Sedona Performing Arts Alliance is building community through education, performance and partnerships. SPAA is the only organization of its kind, working to unite the Verde Valley through the performing arts and help nurture our community’s full artistic potential.

The Sedona Youth Orchestra is a program specially designed to provide musical enrichment to young people in elementary and middle school. This performance experience helps to prepare students for upcoming orchestra opportunities at Sedona Red Rock High School. By working in partnership with local schools and youth agencies the SYO is able to provide the following to participants:

    • Instruments
    • Professional instruction and mentoring
    • Music supplies
    • Performance opportunities

Young people need exposure to enriching opportunities in-order to succeed in life. Studies show that:

    • The educational path of most young people has been set by the end of the third grade.
    • High-achieving young people spend their time inside and outside the classroom is an important predictor of future success.
    • High-yield learning activities, such as learning to play an instrument and developing social skills in group interactions, foster positive youth development.
    • Leading to increased self-esteem and social capacity, better grades, improved school attendance, behavior and rates of high school graduation.
