Verde Valley News – A portion of East Willow Point Road, better know as “Mormon Crossing,” will be closed from June 3-6 to repair the low water bridge that has degraded over the last couple years. Specifically, the road will be closed 100 feet from the centerline from the junction with Stretch Lane to the junction of Blackhawk Drive. Arizona News – In time for the summer travel season, the Arizona Department of Transportation has added a second northbound lane to State Route 64 for travelers approaching the main entrance to Grand Canyon National Park just north of Tusayan. Yavapai County News – MATFORCE, an anti-drug organization with a focus on stopping youth drug use before it starts, held its annual Youth Poster Contest again this year to help raise awareness among youth about the risks of drug and alcohol abuse. Arizona News – No construction closures are scheduled on state highways over Memorial Day weekend, as the Arizona Department of Transportation focuses on both highway safety and keeping holiday traffic on the move. ADOT and its contractors will not schedule any full closures on the state highway system, including Phoenix-area freeways, from Friday afternoon, May 24, to late Monday night, May 27. Verde Valley News – The Yavapai College District Governing Board (DGB) approved the College’s proposed budget for 2024-2025 today at its annual budget adoption meeting. The approved budget includes funding for the college’s strategic priorities, initiatives, and improved services for students and the community. For just the second time since 2019, the DGB approved an increase in primary property tax levy for Yavapai County residents. The approved increase is $1,872,400, or a 3.4% increase in the primary property tax levy.
