Arizona News – (June 7, 2024) – UPDATE – The Arizona Department of Emergency and Military Affairs, Northern Arizona Type 3 Incident Management Team (IMT), and local agencies continue to respond to the Bravo Fire that began late evening June 5th, on Camp Navajo, located west of Flagstaff. The fire is reported to be approximately 1,400 acres. Details on the origin of the fire are still under investigation. The IMT remains the incident command authority. Sedona News – The Rotary Club of Sedona Village is proud to announce that it has awarded a total of $4,280 this year in summer camp scholarships to select local families, benefiting children from pre-kindergarten to high school age. Arizona News – Northbound Interstate 17 is scheduled to be closed this weekend (June 7-10) between Happy Valley Road and Loop 303 in north Phoenix for pavement improvement work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers should allow extra time, consider traveling during non-peak morning or nighttime hours and stay on the designated detour route. Arizona News – Due to forest conditions and a number of key factors being met, Stage 1 fire and smoking restrictions begin 8 a.m., Thursday, June 6, across the entire Coconino National Forest. Under Stage 1 restrictions, fires, campfires, charcoal, coal, wood stoves, and smudge pots are prohibited, except within a developed recreation site. Verde Valley News – Drivers should expect the following restrictions Mondays through Thursdays from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.: Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in segments between Middle Verde Road and the McGuireville Rest Area (mileposts 292 – 297). Drivers should slow down and merge over when approaching the work zone. The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone. A 16-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place. Restrictions will be lifted each day after work hours. No work is anticipated to take place on Fridays or weekends.
