    Apply now for the Sedona Police Department Community Police Academy

    SEDONA, Ariz. – The city invites residents to apply for the Fall 2025 Sedona Police Department Community Police Academy, a free program designed to experience firsthand engagement with the Sedona Police Department, have a better understanding of the department’s role within the community and foster a collaborative relationship with residents.

    The eight-week program will be held every Tuesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m., starting Oct. 7, 2025. It is designed for Sedona residents and business community members, helping to create open communication between the department’s community members and the Sedona Police Department staff. The program also helps police staff gain better perspective on community goals and values.

    The course curriculum includes:

    1. Patrol procedures
    2. Crime scene investigations (fingerprinting and DNA collection)
    3. Traffic control and regulation (DUI, motorcycle detail and collision)
    4. Firearms – Saturday
    5. Use of force
    6. Reporting and investigating
    7. Specialty assignments: K-9, Narcotics Detective, School Resource Officer, motor officers, Community Service Officers and Community Service Aids
    8. Volunteers
    9. Cadet Program
    10. Police communication (dispatch)

    Applications must be received by Sept. 29, 2025. Seats are limited to 15 individuals. Most classes will be held at The Hub, 525-B Posse Grounds Rd. However, the first three classes will be held at the Sedona Vultee Conference Room, located at 102 Roadrunner Drive. If you cannot complete six of the eight classes, please wait for the next session.

    Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Incomplete and/or unsigned applications will not be considered for participation. Applications can be obtained at www.sedonaaz.gov/policeacademy, at the Sedona Police Department front desk, or by emailing Sgt. Raquel Oliver at roliver@sedonaaz.gov.
