City of Sedona ArizonaSedona AZ (February 15, 2019) – 501(c) organizations are invited to apply for city grants beginning Feb. 14, 2019. The deadline for applications is noon, Apr. 30. Awards will be finalized by the Sedona City Council in July.

City grants are available for programs, activities or events developed by 501(c) organizations that provide a public service or benefit, and are consistent with the city’s funding priorities. Individual grant amounts typically range from $2,000 to $20,000.

There are no substantive changes to the grants process or grant requirements this year, and only minor edits to the application. These minor changes are based on a survey data gathered after last year’s grants cycle, discussion by the Small Grants Review Committee, and discussion by the city council at the Dec. 11, 2018, meeting.

Again this year, grant applications will be distributed by request only. To receive an application fill out the request form located on the web page sedonaaz.gov/grants.

An optional applicant workshop will be held Tues., Mar. 12, 10 a.m. to noon, in the Vultee Conference Room at City Hall, 102 Roadrunner Dr. First-time grant applicants are strongly encouraged to attend.

Symbols carry the weight of a thousand words and meanings. Symbols represent reality boiled down to the bone. Symbols evoke profound emotions and memories—at a very primal level of our being—often without our making rational or conscious connections. They fuel our imagination. Symbols enable us to access aspects of our existence that cannot be accessed in any other way. Symbols are used in all facets of human endeavor. One can only feel sorry for those who cannot comprehend the government’s response to the breech of the capital on January 6, with many, even pundits, claiming it was only a peaceful occupation. Regardless if one sees January 6 as a full-scale riot/insurrection or simply patriotic Americans demonstrating as is their right, the fact is the individuals involved went against a symbol, and this could not be allowed or go unpunished.
