After revisiting my shoot at Eric’s last Friday morning I came up with some locals and to close the session out one more of the Lazuli Buntings. There was a baby Harris Antelope ground squirrel that was alternatively dashing to a spot under the feeder and returning to a little rock in front of me. He would snatch a single sunflower seed and return to his perch to eat the seed. The shot above shows him bursting out from under the feeder with seed firmly grasped in his mouth … the shot below is the very next frame as he continues his sprint! This is a really little guy and it was fun spending time observing him.
Finishing with a Lazuli Bunting, below as he is jumping off his perch to land on the main branch … sometimes they don’t even open their wings when they are going between branches. I finished a beautiful aerial shot of the Sedona Airport today which is for publication; Arizona Department of Transportation has selected the Sedona Airport as Airport of the Year out of 67 public airports in Arizona. More work on photos tomorrow! If you haven’t visited the airport you should … many vistas to explore, great dining at Mesa Grill and a very friendly staff at the airport. Have a beautiful day … share a smile with those you meet and greet today the next day too if you feel like it! Cheers, Ted Grussing |
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully
surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. excerpt from Desiderata by Max Ehrmann |
