    … shortly after I took off yesterday morning I took a series of shots over Wilson mountain looking towards the west. I like to get Wilson in the foreground from a relatively low altitude so that if I choose to use it as a base for a composite I can use a photo of One or some other creature laying on the edge of the cliff looking out over Long Canyon and the expanse beyond. Left of center and a little below it is the Seven Canyons golf course and beyond that, but hidden, Enchantment Resort. The flat top mountain beyond the rim is Black Mountain and there is currently a nice pond on top of it. To the right of Black Mountain is Casner Mountain and between the two you can see through the gap to the red rocks on the far side of Sycamore Canyon. Beyond that in the distance is the Chino Valley. On the right side of the photo is Bill Williams Mountain. A nice start to a nice day and a nice flight!

    I got the new fabric panels for the shade at the airport … it protects Mariah from the relentless Arizona sun, so will be installing them tomorrow, possibly another flight and pulling wires and completing the installation of some new avionics … a busy day, but doing fun stuff! I love being around airports and planes and people who also spend time up there.  Methinks it shall be a very good day … so was today … always our choice.

    Have an absolutely wonderful day and if you are in the LA area over the next few days I would invite you to stop in at the Carnegie Art Museum and spend some time viewing the “Recent and Seldom Seen collection which is on display through Sunday. Address is 424 S. C Street, Oxnard, CA. My friend Joanne Julian has some of her work in the exhibit and it is good. You can also view her work on her website at: http://www.joannejulian.com/

    Keep breathing … which leads to keep smiling … we are blessed.

    Cheers,

    Ted

    I thought that time went sweet and soft and slow,
    And left no marks save those of gentleness
    That bound you to my life with strong caress;
    And you saw naught but all my soul’s deep truth,
    No fading bloom, nor form the years bent low,
    But ever still the beauty of my youth.

    If I Were Curtis Sliwa
    By Tommy Acosta

    One of my guilty little pleasures is imagining what I would do if I was in someone else’s shoes, especially politicians. In this essay I would love to jump into the shoes of Curtis Sliwa, a former New York City vigilante who founded the Guardian Angels and is now running as a Republican for mayor of his city.
