Graffiti as Art at e-Go Gallery
Clarkdale, AZ (May 26, 2011) – Made in Clarkdale’s e-GO Gallery welcomed artists Thursday evening, May 19, to the gala opening of their newest show, Tag Art = Graffiti. The show opened with bare walls wrapped in paper and easels and drawing supplies scattered throughout the gallery. As the evening wore on the walls began to fill with the graffiti works of the artists in attendance.
The public and the community of Verde Valley artists are invited to visit the Gallery at 921 Main Street in downtown Clarkdale to produce their own works of tag art/graffiti and to fill the walls with their individual work. After existing for many centuries as everything from prehistoric cave drawings to unauthorized outdoor wall covering to well planned and carefully executed murals, graffiti is finally becoming an acknowledged art form that ranges from free form abstract styling to very elaborate precise works of all sizes and shapes.
The Tag Art = Graffiti show will run until June 3 and will end with another gala party on Thursday, June 2, from 4:30 to 6:30pm. Janice Paul will entertain the guests with her musical talents while they view the results of two weeks of artistic freedom of expression.
Regular hours for the e-GO Gallery are Monday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 11:00am to 4:00pm; Sunday 12 noon to 3:00pm. The gallery is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Anyone who wants to participate in this adventure but can’t fit those hours into their schedule may call 928-301-9798 to request an after-hours appointment to create their masterpiece.
