… I’ve been spending the day going through a portion of the portfolio and found a photo I took of what we call “Peregrine Island” that I shot back in December of 2022 … this was the month that we found Peregrine Falcons there almost every time we went down to the lake. All three photos were taken in December of 2022.

In December of 2022 the water level was at 1663.61′ above mean sea level and today it is 1663.57′ msl which means the island is with us. This time last year the water level was almost 8′ higher and thus well below the lake level.

The top image is of a Peregrine Falcon perched on a rock of the island gazing at us from a distance of less than 20′, below is a photo of the island which as you can see is not much of an island and below that a photo of the Peregrine Falcon as he took off and left us. Peregrine’s are the fastest living creatures on earth!

Heading down to the lake Tuesday morning and hoping for a repeat performance … we shall see!

Lake Pleasant water levels vary throughout the year by about 30′ … January through about early June they bring Arizona’s allotment of Colorado River water in from Lake Havasu via the CAP system and beginning in mid June they release the water which is primarily used for agriculture. Lake Pleasant is the primary reservoir for Arizona’s allotment of Colorado River water. Arizona has actually got a lot of water, mostly underground and meets the 100 year test for having sufficient water. We get about 36% of our water from the Colorado River.

Into the new day and the new week … choices to be made … choose joy!

    Cheers,

Love some one—in God’s name love some one—
for this is the bread of the inner life, without which
a part of you will starve and die; and though you feel
you must be stern, even hard, in your life of affairs,
make for yourself at least a little corner, somewhere
in the great world, where you may unbosom and be
    kind.
