Sedona News – The city of Sedona welcomes Anette Spickard as the new city manager, a job she is planning to begin on April 8, 2024.

Spickard comes from McCall, Idaho a tourist and outdoor recreation destination surrounded by National Forest about 100 miles north of Boise, Idaho. As the City Manager of McCall for six years, she dealt with many similar issues that Sedona faces including workforce housing challenges, balancing resident quality of life in a tourism economy and the need for multi-agency collaboration to move regional issues forward. Spickard’s background includes over 25 years of dedicated public service as a former elected County Assessor in Lane County, Oregon; the Community Development and Public Works Director for a city of 60,000 people in Springfield, Oregon; and most recently as City Manager of McCall. Spickard has a Master of Public Administration from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Loyola Marymount University.

“Anette is a proven leader with an extensive background of public service and experience in an organization with many similarities to Sedona. I Iook forward to working with her,” said Mayor Scott Jablow.

The recruitment and selection process was over six months long, culminating in January with interviews with community members, staff members and City Council, and also included an open house for the public to meet and greet her. One hundred fifty-two potential candidates were examined through an extensive review, with Spickard as the obvious choice to offer the job to.

“Sedona is a special place. I am excited to join the Sedona leadership team and to work with the community on our opportunities and challenges,” said Spickard.
