… in just a few months we will be enjoying cooling weather and forget the heat of summer … throughout the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s all governmental agencies and the media including scientific journals and papers were proclaiming the eminent coming of another ice age … mercifully all scary predictions whether heat or cold never seem to actually occur …

I love this cooling scene at the airport after a very warm day in Phoenix and it will be this way again in just a few months. The airport was closed and I spent some time shooting everything I could … no operations … all was quiet!

The photo below was taken down at Lake Pleasant as the adult bald eagle departed his perch on an outcropping from the cliff face … people do that too … but not me!

During lunch today my friend and I decided that we are going to form an organization to promote the restoration of Pluto to its status as a planet … it is possible that the 110F heat influenced our thought process … it is really cold out where Pluto is!

On August 24, 2006, the International Astronomy Union (IAU) General Assembly downgraded Pluto from Planet to Dwarf Planet … a very interesting article on the subject is here. Seems like a worthy cause since it has only been 93 years (1930) since Pluto was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff

We will be accepting donations shortly with the caveat that we will probably just keep the money and buy a few save Pluto caps … neither of us have experience in this sort of thing nor do we know how to proceed 🙂 Seems like a worthy cause though … Pluto is just out in the cold with no one at her defense!

Into the weekend for me … enjoying the day and this marvelous little planet we are getting a ride on … have beautiful days, keep breathing and I’ll be back Monday morning.

    Smiling,

To you who walk in shadows dark
    And keenly hark
For kindly words if but to live,
    Myself I give,
My life and all my heart and hand
    Here where I stand.
‘Tis thus that both our lives will grow
    I know.

I bring but this one common thought
    My life has wrought;
That from the dregs of drear despair
    Still everywhere
There is a joy I yet may sip—
    “‘Tis comradeship
With all mankind, the high and low
    I know.
