    YC’s Verde Valley OLLI Catalog Announces Spring Classes

    A dozen new courses offer seniors a chance to learn, explore and grow

    Verde Valley News – Signs of spring are in the air: warmer temperatures, budding flowers … and a brand-new OLLI catalog, ripe with opportunities for Verde Valley seniors to widen their world in a community of adventurous hearts and curious minds. Registration has begun for the Spring 2024 Session at YC’s Verde Valley Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), and it all begins with their new catalog, at www.yc.edu/ollisv.

    20240308 olliThe new OLLI catalog is chock-full of courses – old and new – to stimulate seasoned adults in the Spring session, beginning April 1 and running through May 9. Classes in all of the favorite OLLI general topics will return. These include active mind and body; arts and crafts; visual and performing arts; computer and technology; finance, economics; health and nutrition; history and current affairs; local interest; nature and the outdoors; philosophy, religion, and the unexplained; science and math; social security and Medicare; and writing, literature, and languages.

    These will be joined by more than a dozen new classes – many of which include educational outings! Enjoy a geological field trip to Red Mountain or try a variety of moderate to strenuous hikes. Or take your taste buds on an excursion in OLLI’s Wine Appreciation Workshop, where student palates journey through a flight of five wines, using sensory evaluation.

    The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) offers academic, not-for-credit programs with no tests or homework, designed for adults 50 years old or older. In the Verde Valley, classes can be found at the Yavapai College Sedona Center, 4215 Arts Village Drive, Sedona; YC’s Verde Valley Campus, 601 Black Hills Drive, Clarkdale; and in the Sedona Public Library in the Village of Oak Creek, 25 West Saddlehorn Road, VOC.

    OLLI offers five membership options, including a $25 “Try Me” membership that enables new members to access one term of classes and programs for very modest fees – and volunteer and leadership opportunities in an environment of like minds.
