Verde Valley News – Yavapai County Community Health Services will offer the PreventT2 lifestyle change program to Camp Verde residents. Prevent T2 is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and is proven to prevent or delay type 2 diabetes.

The CDC estimates that more than 1 in 3 adults – 96 million Americans – have prediabetes. More than 8 in 10 adults with prediabetes don’t know they have it. Additionally, about 20% of American adults with diabetes don’t know they have it. People with prediabetes – higher-than-normal blood glucose levels – are 5 to 15 times more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than those with normal blood glucose levels.

In PreventT2, participants work with a trained YCCHS Health Educator to learn the skills and strategies needed to eat healthier, become more physically active, manage stress, and overcome barriers that can get in the way of sustainable and lasting changes. PreventT2 provides a supportive and motivating group setting, where participants celebrate their successes and find ways to overcome obstacles.
