… one of my traits is to always go for perfection. When is whatever I am doing good enough? I have a tendency to always strive for perfection. I watched a YouTube video today regarding choices of equipment for faceting and this gentleman who is a noted facetor, explained how he settled his choice of equipment. He is able to facet a stone and get a much higher quality stone than commercially cut stones but less than competition cut stones … better than most, but not perfection … it got me thinking as I spent several hours polishing the table of the citrine I am cutting. I could see a few slight drag lines on the table under 7X magnification … after viewing the video, I looked at the table under 2.5X magnification and they were not visible and with the naked eye it looked like perfection … so it is good enough … the drag lines are there, but no one can see them. This carries over into almost everything we do … when is a photo done, a presentation good enough? I’ll always be on the side of perfection, but near is good enough for most things.

A portrait of a Bobcat on the tee box is above and below a shot I took from my back deck of a guy with a powered paraglider cruising alongside Castle Rock late afternoon a few years ago … I’ve never done that, but it looks pretty cool.

A new day … a new week, still here and still loving life and sometimes, just waking up in the morning is good enough … we are here and get to choose the kind of day we will have.

    Cheers,

    Ted

But from the brooding beauty of the night,
And daily dancing shafts of golden sun—
The mystery and wonder of the world—
That play the soundless music of the soul
And fill the heart with memory’s olden dreams—
From these will come at last your faith in God.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
