… A Man Alone … Listen to the Warm … another evening listening to my favorite poet sing his work … that is Rod McKuen of course. Recently bought some vinyl of his music and of course have nothing to play them on … but after so many years of listening to his music and reading his poems, I can hear the songs in my mind when I look at the albums. A nice way to finish the day.
I got back from Scottsdale in time to catch Doug’s presentation at the Sedona Camera Club tonight and he gave a great presentation on shooting wildflowers. He also shared many good tips on getting the best shot possible including shooting in muted light to reduce the contrast and maximize the color of the flower and he had many absolutely beautiful images to illustrate this simple truth … thanks Doug. Then there is aerial photography and I look for high contrast with explosions of color set off by deep shadow such as this shot of Kendrick Peak that I took on September 30th … clouds casting shadows on the earth, the sun causing explosions of color on the mountain and the stippled effect of the trees in the forest … something to dream on. You can see some of Doug’s beautiful work on: www.sedona.photos also time to think about buying a 2017 calendar and that is available on the website too.
Friday, the Church of the Red Rocks is hosting the 2nd annual National Prison & Aftercare Awareness Day. Starts at 9AM and runs through 3PM with a complimentary lunch. RSVP: Sue Gregory email@example.com or call Don Kirchner at:928.300.2922. There will be many speakers and representatives from law enforcement, probation officials and re-entry projects there. Definitely something to consider learning more about.
Time to wrap the day … hope your day was filled with beauty … choose to make it so.
For life holds cheers as well as tears,
Take this old toast from me:
This world a riddle hard you call …
A mess from which you fain would shrink?
Perhaps ‘tis wisdom, all in all.
To learn to laugh as well as think.
