… we are a pretty cool species and we have been able to find ways to extend our natural capabilities to do things that only creatures in nature are able to do naturally and one of the really important things is flight … who hasn’t dreamed of flying without contraptions of one kind or another? I still do! So I thought it would be kind of fun to match photos of those who do it every day with we humans in the devices we have invented to enable us to do the same … well kinda!

In the photos above we have a Wood Duck taking off with gusto from a pond of water with pure grace and elegance leaving a major disruption in the waters surface as he powers straight into flight. Below him is a friend of mine from Tucson who stopped here today on his way to California … we had a great lunch at Hideaway House restaurant and then back to the airport and he was on his way to California … also a beautiful sight as he climbed up and out of the Sedona area in his Van RV7.

Next below is a photo of a Ring-necked Duck coming in for a very cool landing at the ponds yesterday morning … for whatever reason he decided to extend his landing as far as possible and appears to be sliding across the water … and I got two reflections of him in the water, one upright and the other inverted … a cool shot! At bottom photo is a shot of me landing my HpH 304CZ sailplane at Sedona airport sometime around 2006 … a beautiful flying machine and probably the favorite of the various sailplanes and motorglider I have owned … there is nothing like the purity of flight in a high performance sailplane.

So we’re into a new day and week … the plan is to make tomorrow a fabulous day. I’ll enjoy the moment I open my eyes and find I am still here … perhaps 10 shots of espresso to get the day off to a great start and then live the day to its fullest. Keep breathing, share a smile with someone today and be kind … We’re Alive!

    Cheers

Come, you who are weary, and sit in the shadow
of my faith; and when you are rested we shall
journey together, singing gleefully on the highway,
lending many a hand, yet passing ever on and on; and
at nightfall, tired and content, we shall light the candles
in the house of love, thank God in cheerful words, and
    lie down to peaceful sleep.

It Takes a Lifetime and Sometimes Even More

    By Amaya  Gayle

Sedona, AZ — It takes a lifetime (perhaps lifetimes) of stretching and expanding, ripping and tearing, just to move through one’s predispositions, to meet one’s inbred resistance and evolve to the grace of simple tolerance. During this precious part of the journey, it feels like you are taking the steps, are choosing right, left or straight ahead, that you are in the game.
