Sedona AZ (October 21, 2013) – The Coconino National Forest Red Rock Ranger District and the Arizona Natural History Association invite the public to a Star Party on Saturday, October 26, at the Red Rock Visitor Center.
This interpretive event is presented by the Astronomers of Verde Valley and is free to the public. Surrounded by the Mingus Mountains and the Red Rock country of Sedona, this high desert area provides clear air and dark skies, ideal for astronomical viewing. The Saturday event will include solar gazing from 1 to 4:30 p.m., an astronomy presentation at 5:30 p.m., and telescope viewings from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Please bring a red light and dress appropriately for the chilly night.
The Astronomers of Verde Valley is an amateur astronomy club that serves the communities in the Verde Valley. The club’s enthusiastic and varied membership includes scientists, professional astronomers, teachers, authors, students, and big-city refugees from all walks of life. Their mission is to inform, educate and entertain by providing a varied and interesting program of activities for their membership and the communities they serve.
