One-hour overnight closures this week through Thursday
Camp Verde AZ (December 9, 2013) – The Interstate 17 climbing lane project south of Camp Verde will require several one-hour closures overnight throughout this week.
Each night, starting tonight through Thursday, Dec. 12, the I-17 will be closed in both directions from 11:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m., 1 to 2 a.m. and again from 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. as blasting continues along the interstate.
Northbound I-17 will be stopped at State Route 169 and southbound I-17 traffic will be stopped at General Crook Trail until the work is completed and the roadway is reopened.
In addition to the full closures, I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions through the work zone from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
During construction, bicyclists are not permitted through the project work zone as the shoulders along I-17 are closed. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations. For driver and worker safety there is a reduced speed limit through the work zone.
In addition, southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between mileposts 250 and 249, near Sunset Point Rest Area, from 7 to 1 p.m. tonight for maintenance work. The speed limit through this work zone will be reduced to 55 mph.
