Verde Valley News – Ten artists from Camp Verde are showcasing their artworks in a debut exhibit that opened on April 15 at the Camp Verde Community Library.

On June 5, three of the ten artists exchanged their works for new ones, giving library patrons and staff a new view. Mary Rush exchanged her three paintings for three new ones. Sue Moning added a photography piece. Sally Reeves changed one painting out for a new one. One piece has already sold; Zoe Reeves-Conway previously exchanged her sold piece for a new one.

All are members of the new Camp Verde Artists Group formed in December, coordinated by founder Mary Rush.

“I am honored and happy to coordinate this exhibit at the library for the newly formed Camp Verde Artists Group. We were only one month old when I scheduled the exhibition with the library. Now, at six months, we have gone through various stages of growth. We are becoming a solidified advocate for our art and the extended arts scene in Camp Verde,” Rush said.

The exhibit will run through July 15 and can viewed during regular library hours. Works include paintings, photography, metal sculpture, and wood-burning. Artists whose work is showing include Birdy Finch, Deborah Christy Love, Jill Irvin, Joshua O. Smith, Lenore Velky, Mary Rush, Sally Reeves, Sue Moning, Thomas D. Fleming, and Zoe Reeves-Conway. Look for Joshua O. Smith’s large-scale metal sculptures outdoors at the neighboring Rezzonico Family Park. Attendees can view his sculptures along a Story Walk. All the other pieces are inside the library on the yellow wall.

“We have gone from strangers to a cohesive group of artists who feel at home in their new group,” Rush said of the group.

“It was time for the artists to find each other. We hope the community will help us celebrate this artists’ group to share our art more visibly. Please stop by the exhibit during library hours and tell the staff how much you enjoyed seeing the artwork,” Rush said.

Camp Verde Community Library is located just off of Montezuma Castle Highway at 130 Black Bridge Road, Camp Verde AZ.
