Sedona AZ (May 22, 2012Studio Live presents hit songwriter Jane Siberry at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Saturday, June 2nd. Doors open at 7:00pm with the show starting at 7:30pm, tickets are $25.00 in advance and $30.00 at the door.
In 2006, Jane Siberry let go of her home and most of her possessions to begin the journey of “living her to-do list”. She let go of her name and became “ISSA”, describing the impetus as “change or die”. Now, six years later, with many strong changes under her belt and feeling more enthusiastic about life than ever, she has pulled her past name forward again, as full-on Jane Siberry. The Canadian singer/songwriter, known for her ‘hits’ such as “Mimi On the Beach”, One More Colour”, “Calling All Angels” and “Love Is Everything” will be performing in Sedona on Saturday, 2 June, at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre and Sunday, 3 June at two private house salon concerts. {For Private Salons Contact Executive Producer Alisa Farina Maynard for details at 917.991.4786}.
Jane Siberry’s music draws from a wide variety of styles, ranging from new wave rock to a reflective pop style influenced by jazz, folk, gospel, classical and liturgical music. She has cited Van Morrison and Miles Davis as being strong creative influences. Vocally she has been likened to Joni Mitchell, Laurie Anderson and Kate Bush. Siberry has been a maverick in the recording industry, pioneering a self-determined pricing policy through her website.
Toronto-born, Jane learned piano from the age of four, predominantly teaching herself. At school she learned conventional music theory as well as the French horn, and taught herself to play guitar by working through Leonard Cohen songs. “I started out in music, but switched to sciences when I realized how much more interesting it was to study than music. I would leave the classes ecstatic about tiny things”. Jane earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in microbiology from the University of Guelph. In August 2005, Jane Siberry was awarded the 2005 Victor Marston Lynch-Staunton award by the Canadian Council for the Arts. She has eighteen full albums and 5 compilation sets on her current discography.
Opening each Sedona concert for Ms. Siberry will be Sedona vocalist/songwriter Adalia Tara.
