logo_leagueofwomenvotersVerde Valley AZ (April 23, 2015) – One of Arizona’s most acclaimed journalists, Jana Bommersbach, is coming to the Verde Valley on May 16 as the guest speaker at the League Women Voters of Arizona Convention.  The Mabery Pavilion on the Verde Valley Campus, Yavapai College in Clarkdale is the perfect setting for this dinner event.

Jana’s direct, pithy, funny, engaging, entertaining and informative style of speaking will delight all who attend the League’s dinner.  Her topic will be WILD, WILD, WILD Arizona and will be a wild romp through Arizona’s colorful history from Arizona’s influence on American politics to how the state once tried to pass a “dildo bill” and the inside scoop on Geronimo.

photo_janabommersbachJana is not only a journalist but an author of several books including her newest novel “Cattle Kate” – Cattle Kate is the only woman ever lynched as a cattle rustler. History called it “range land justice” when she was strung up in Wyoming Territory on July 20, 1889, tarring her as a dirty thief and a filthy whore. But history was wrong. It was all a lie! The book will be available for purchase at the event.

The League of Women Voters of Arizona convention dinner is open to the public to attend.  The event begins with a reception at 5:30 pm and dinner at 6:30 pm.  Arizona wines will be served during the reception and dinner and the air will be filled with the gentle music of Clarkdale’s jazz pianist Janice Paul.  This dinner is a fundraiser for the Leagues of Women Voters of Greater Verde Valley and Central Yavapai County.  The cost of the reception and dinner is $50.  Reservations can be made until May 11, 2015 online at the League’s website: www.lwvaz.org or a check can be mailed to LWVAZ, 4423 No. 24th Street, Ste. 500, Phoenix AZ  85016.  For more information contact Robyn at lwvarizona@gmail.com.
