Sedona News – Members and guests will launch the 2025 Great Decisions programs on Monday January 27 with a discussion of “American Foreign Policy at a Crossroads.” The program will be held from 10 a.m. till noon at the Community Library Sedona, 3250 White Bear Road.
The incoming administration will face a world that has changed dramatically in recent years. Disorder seems to be spreading, posing challenges to America’s leadership and to the post-war global system. Many Americans are questioning the foundations of post-war policy. How will the Trump administration seek to put “America First”? What could be done to revive the liberal international strategy pursued since 1945? Is there any alternative strategy that might better serve US interests?
Discussion of these issues will start with a summary of an article by Dr. John Ikenberry and an update on the formation of the Trump foreign policy team. That will be followed by an open discussion moderated by Charles Blum, drawing on his career in diplomacy and international trade policy.
Established in 1985, Sedona Great Decisions Group is the local chapter of the Foreign Policy Association. Its monthly programs deal with U.S. foreign policy and related domestic issues of current concern to the American people. Upcoming topics include US-China relations, AI and national security, and international cooperation on climate change.
Guests are welcome, space permitting. They may register for the program or request membership information by contacting Blum at chblum45@yahoo.com or 301-717-4210.
