New production from the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia at Fisher Theatre
Sedona AZ (September 27, 2013) – The Sedona International Film Festival presents Ballet in Cinema on Monday, Oct. 7 when it hosts the big screen premiere of Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” from the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. There will be one show at 4:00 p.m. at the festival’s Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
For the first time ever the world’s most loved ballet — “Swan Lake” — is being presented from the city where it was created — and by the company which produces many of the greatest dance stars (including Pavlova, Nureyev, Barishnikov and many more). This special event — celebrating 275 years since Russian ballet began — will be available for cinema audiences across the globe to enjoy as recorded live in high definition.
The genius of Tchaikovsky’s incredible score and the breathtaking brilliance of the choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov bring you the version of “Swan Lake” the world loves.
Lyrical, mysterious and dramatic, the Mariinsky Theatre creates an imaginary world where Prince Siegfried and the swan-princess Odette affirm their love for each other, conquering the forces of evil.
Tchaikovsky’s ravishing music combines with peerless choreography showing the Mariinsky’s famed corps de ballet in all its beauty. Ekaterina Kondaurova stars in the classic role of Odette/Odile. Captured live in stunning high definition from the historic Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, the Imperial Capital of Russia, this unique occasion will include Hollywood, Russian and other international guest stars. Plus, the event will feature exclusive, glamorous presentations exclusively for the cinema audience.
Tchaikovsky’s “Swan Lake” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on one day only: Monday, Oct. 7 at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $15, or $12.50 for Film Festival members. Tickets are available in advance at the Sedona International Film Festival office or by calling 282-1177. Both the theatre and film festival office are located at 2030 W. Hwy. 89A, in West Sedona.
