Sedona AZ (October 3, 2014) – The Friends of Sedona Library’s Festival of Wreaths, now scheduled to take place every other year, is an event that transforms the Library. I eagerly look forward to the magical gala event that kicks off the festival and the excitement of the sale throughout November.
This year the Preview Party and Sale will be held on Sunday, November 9, from 4 to 6:30 p.m. We ask that you note the new earlier starting time. The kickoff event features wine, appetizers, musical entertainment, raffle prizes, and great company. Tickets are now on sale at the Library and at Bashas’.
But right now, the Friends are asking that you start working on your wreath! The Friends look forward to community members contributing wreaths of all styles and for all seasons. Friday, November 7, is the delivery date for wreaths and table top trees. Deliver your item to the main Library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or to the Village location at Tequa Plaza from 1 to 4 p.m.
Wreath guidelines to remember:
- Use non-perishable items.
- Make sure all materials are securely fastened to withstand hanging and handling.
- Provide a sturdy wire hanger on back.
- Use any theme or design; however, year-round wreaths sell the best.
You can also support the Festival of Wreaths by making a table top tree, donating a raffle or auction item, or making a tax-deductible donation to the Friends of the Library.
We’re excited about the new raffle and auction items being offered for the first time this year. They include airline tickets to a destination of your choice in the United States, and weekend getaway packages to Las Vegas and Tucson.
George of George Kelly Jewelers is designing and making another beautiful piece of jewelry for this Festival of Wreaths. There will be a limited number of tickets at $10 each for this special raffle.
If you’re new to Sedona or just haven’t had the opportunity to attend the Festival Preview Party, visit the Library’s website and check out the YouTube video of the last Festival. You might get some ideas for your wreath design and you’ll certainly get a feel for how entertaining the event is.
Sedona Public Library was founded in 1958 by a group of community volunteers. It is and has always been a privately run library. The land on which the Library sits was donated and the library building was constructed with private funds and is entirely debt free. Sedona Public Library receives funding to operate from Friends of the Library, the city of Sedona, Coconino and Yavapai Counties, and private donations.
Annually, the Friends of the Library contribute more than $100,000 to help provide library services that are free to the community. The group has also contributed to the cost of RFID self-checkout stations, summer reading programs, teen theater scholarships, and Arizona Humanities programs.
Your support of the Friends through the Festival of Wreaths helps the group achieve their goal of providing funding for Sedona Public Library. You can be the first to see and purchase this year’s creations at the Festival of Wreaths Preview Party. Tickets are $15 each or $25 for two. Wreaths will go on sale to the public on Monday, November 10, during regular library hours.
