Carol Burnett stars in Sondheim tribute in Film Festival’s Direct from Broadway series
Sedona AZ (November 11, 2013) – The Sedona International Film Festival continues its “Direct from Broadway” series with the big-screen debut of the “Putting It Together: A Musical Review” starring Carol Burnett, premiering Nov. 8-9. The production premieres in high definition at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre.
“Putting It Together” celebrates award-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim’s humor, poignancy and sophistication in material taken from a number of his original musicals, including A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Anyone Can Whistle, Follies, A Little Night Music, Sweeney Todd, Sunday In The Park With George, Assassins, the film Dick Tracy, and Do You Hear A Waltz?
Co-starring with Carol Burnett, whose Emmy-winning The Carol Burnett Show is TV’s longest-running (11 years) comedy-variety show, are two-time Tony Award-winner George Hearn (La Cage Aux Follies, Sunset Boulevard), Olivier Award nominee John Barrowman (The Fix) Olivier Award winner Ruthie Henshall (She Loves Me) and Bronson Pinchot (Beverly Hills Cop, Perfect Strangers).
This production of “Putting It Together” had a successful run on Broadway at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre and landed a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for George Hearn.
“Putting It Together” will be shown at the Mary D. Fisher Theatre on Friday, Nov. 8 at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 9 at 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $15, or $12.50 for Film Festival members.
