Sedona AZ –Sedona has a massive resource of talented Citizens. Let’s use them.

Locals working with governments are proactive and I envision a collaborative, data-driven decision-making process that involves various stakeholders in shaping the future of Sedona.

Segner 2Preparing for the future and being proactive rather than reactive is crucial for a place like Sedona, which experiences significant visitation and growth.

Developing a realistic and data-driven projection of traffic and visitation numbers is an excellent step toward understanding the future needs and challenges of the city.

The focus on master landscaping plans and beautification projects for areas like west Sedona along 89a demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the city’s aesthetic appeal while considering the input and involvement of various groups and professionals.

This can create spaces that benefit both the local community and visitors alike.

The emphasis on community involvement, with groups like Keep Sedona, Beautiful, Sedona XYZ, and otherSegner 3 local organizations working together, showcases a desire for inclusivity and a shared vision for the city’s development.

By fostering an environment where locals are encouraged to run for elected office, you ensure that decision-makers align with the community’s values and aspirations for a balanced and beautiful Sedona.

Segner 5This vision encompasses essential aspects of urban planning, community engagement, and sustainable growth. It seeks to create a future where Sedona remains a cherished destination while maintaining its unique charm and character.

    • Work with the city to develop master landscaping plans, beautification projects, pathway lighting, pathway seating, and pet watering stations, to name a few ideas.
    • Develop an ongoing weed abatement plan for all city and state-owned easements and privet property.
    • Encourage the city to enforce existing city codes regarding property maintenance and parking regulations.
    • Sedona has spectacular natural scenery, but a commercial corridor along 89a needs attention.
    • Community information and event signage around town

Workgroups would meet to explore ideas and flush out ideas to beautify Sedona. Let’s be proactive, not reactive. The plans would be presented to the city council and as a citizen white paper and would be only a guideline to start the discussion.

The city of Sedona and State mandated open meeting laws making it difficult to have creative citizen input.

    • More to come.

It seems these ideas might be better served inside the existing framework of the City’s 10 year plan. Everyone is welcome to the planning meetings. I’m curious what limitations there are on 89A, since the state owns the street, not Sedona. The City Planner’s information is: Cynthia Lovely, principal planner, (928) 203-5035, CLovely@SedonaAZ.gov

I think any format for discussion of beautification of Sedona is great, but doesn’t take a 10 year plan to put in benches and watering stations. Things fall through the cracks.
Are you willing to wait 10 years for weed abatement on city property, on the 179 roundabout over the river is a nice little mini park. There’s no place to sit there’s no trashcan I see people sitting on the ground drinking coffee every morning we can do better.
