Sedona AZ (March 27, 2013) – For all of you animal lovers out there who are planning to participate in the 2nd annual Pet-A-Walkie event, here is yet another way for you to step up in helping both the Humane Society of Sedona and Second Chance Center for Animals with funds in order to continue helping homeless and stray pets. Sunday, April 7th in the ballroom of Los Abrigados Resort & Spa, popular Sedona celebrities and entertainers Tom & Shondra, in coordination with Canyon Moon Theatre are presenting a fundraiser concert called, “Be Their Voice – Artists for Animals.” All the proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to benefit two wonderful humane organizations: Second Chance Center for Animals (SCCA) and Humane Society of Sedona (HSS). Tickets for the Sunday concert will be available at the Pet-A-Walkie event making both Saturday and Sunday, April 6th and 7th a full fun filled weekend celebrating animals.
“Be Their Voice – Artists for Animals” was created by Tom & Shondra as a tribute to the late Birgitte “B” Skielvig who made her sudden passage last December. Shondra explained, “We’ve worked with B for several years and after attending her memorial service in January, Tom and I decided to produce our own fundraiser that would honor B and all of the animals that she spent years working on their behalf. Since we’ve also wanted to find a way to gift our time and talents to help raise money for Second Chance Center for Animals, we decided to create a fundraising show to benefit both organizations at the same time.” Tom added, “This is a terrific way for animal lovers to come together and enjoy a fun filled evening of some of Sedona’s finest entertainers while making a positive difference for animals by having purchased a ticket to this show. B would have loved this so we’re trusting that people will attend in honor of her as well as the founders of Second Chance Center for Animals.”
Mary Guaraldi, Producing Artistic Director of Canyon Moon Theatre said, “CMT is filled with animal lovers and this is a chance to thank the Humane Society of Sedona and Second Chance Center for Animals for giving life and voice to so many creatures.”
Joining Tom & Shondra is a full line up of some of Sedona’s best singers, musicians and entertainers such as Sammy Davis, Michael Peach, Shaeri Richards, Steve Estes, Teri & Bob Bays, Eric Williams, Paolo Scardina, Doug Coblens, Rev. Janet Kingsley, Mia Sadler and several more are sure to draw in a large audience. Shondra added, “We’re going to have a blast and the audience will get a kick out of our song selections.”
Besides the ticket sales, each organization is actively seeking cash donations in support of the event and their respective missions to help homeless animals. Donations to these organizations of $250 or more contributing in this way will be recognized on stage. The donor may choose to present a check (or have it presented by emcees Tom & Shondra) to either or both organizations that evening. HSS and SCCA are dedicated to animal welfare and both are equally deserving of additional funding to continue to fulfill their missions.
Betsy Klein, Acting Development Coordinator of the Humane Society of Sedona said, “We are thrilled to have this opportunity and welcome anyone who would like to donate in this way which is all tax deductable. We are inviting businesses and individuals in our community who would like to be a part of this amazing event with a sponsorship to contact us now.”
Kevin Hertell, Executive Director of Second Chance Animal Rescue mentioned, “In honor of the spirit of Birgitte “B” Skielvig, Executive Director of the Humane Society of Sedona who passed last year and the memory of the late Dick and Jean Wilson, founders of Second Chance Center for Animals we are inviting everyone to join us in this musical celebration for the animals.”
Tickets are $25 each with 100% of ticket sales divided evenly between the HSS and SCCA.
